This fine early version of Charles Dickens’s timeless Christmas story features established stage actor Charles Rock in the role of Ebenezer Scrooge. Despite the compressed running time, all of the story’s essential ingredients are skilfully woven into the mix. The visitations of the ghosts and their travels through space and time with Scrooge are particularly impressive for the period.

  1. Interestingly, they changed the order of the two principal visions the Ghost of Christmas Present shows Scrooge just as they did in the Muppet Christmas Carol, in that the Ghost shows Scrooge his nephew's Christmas party first, then the Cratchits, instead of the other way around as in the book.

  2. I could understand blocking those "rebellious yanks" from watching it, but what about your Commonwealth children?  Have we not proved our loyalty enough to at the very least be granted the privelege of enjoying such historic films?

  3. BFI  !!!!    This is the Ghost of Films Past.   Don't tease these humble Youtubers with just 2 minutes of this film.     In the Spirit of Christmas   Post all of it  So the poor Bob Crachits of the world who do not live in the UK can enjoy it as well.
